Brookings Hall: The Gateway to limitless possibilities

digital_humanities_artist_rendition.png
This is a winning artist’s design entry for a rendition of the Washington University campus that was created in 1899*.
Through the perspective of the artist, the rest of campus is based around Brookings Hall and there are numerous possible buildings and resources that are synonymous with the many possible paths one can take one's college journey. This evokes the perspective of Brookings Hall being the gateway to numerous resources on campus. While the previous image of the Brookings Towers Entrance concealed these potential prospects, this image shows the magnitude of possibiltiles behind the towers. The artist made sure to draw the Brookings Hall Towers from the perspective of entering brookings in order to create a nice design and show the flow of campus.
This reinforces that Brookings Hall is an entryway to the rest of campus, in other words it is the doorway to the whole world of campus behind it, truly showing the future prospects for prospective and current students. Through this exhibit,  one can note additional historical context of Brookings being used as a gateway for one's perception of WashU through its advertising and as a gateway to the breadth of opportunities offered on campus.
