Scared WashU students stepping on the seal, their finals may be failed forever.....

This photo shows the modern day perception of the seal under Brooking's Hall and the cultural significance it has today despite being a very old relic. Within Washington University, there is hidden lore within the Brookings seal. It is said that if you step on it, you will fail your finals. This myth is passed down the grade levels to freshmen and touring prospective students alike, and as a result, numerous new students and current students alike are familiar with the Brooking's seal. This seal and Brookings Hall as a whole show its influence on WashU's culture as a result of the presence of this myth. The fact that current students pass it down to prospective and newly integrated students which results in them all being nervous at stepping on the seal (as shown in the image) shows how Brookings Hall and the seal within are established as sacred icons that play a significant role within the culture of WashU and its student body in the past, modern day, and for future generations to come.
